This is pretty much exactly the same as my first build from back in 2012. Ran it until february last year, CPU still going strong after 8 years of hard use. Only had to change the gpu after it died (probably my fault). The power supply went right across to my new build and is powering it no problem, and I'm still using the ssd as well. They were some quality parts.

I´m actually still rocking that case and recently tried to get a rtx 3080 in there and it did´nt fit-_- Had to cut out most of the drivercage with pliers but yeah, i think it´s time for a new case soon

pmsl, just found your channel ... I have the same case, similar issues except I had a water cooled twin 680 sli setup & beefier cpu, but basically a similar situation & looking to renew after a water leak killed it 2-3 years ago. Fun and informative channel, thank you.

yeah mine is worse. popped the side off the other day... dear god. I had it built for me, and never bothered opening it because life and kids and stuff. There is no cable management. Not a single cable is routed behind the motherboard. There are like 3 zip ties holding the rats nest together, and I've never cleaned it, so yeah... it's bad. I figured hubby would have cleaned it when he upgraded my ssd a few years ago, but nope. Dust for DAYS. Now that I have the time I'll build something myself, but yeah I wouldn't recommend whoever built mine. Holy hotdog sauce that thing's a hot mess.

This amount of dust is nothing compared to what I've seen in my days. This is quite tame. almost clean even. Nothing to be ashamed of really. If one finds this "dirty" one hasn't been in the PC upgrade business for real.

My PC gets dirtier in 6 months than this one did in that many years. I have to run my PC side panel open because my VRM cover makes it so my Noctua fan sits too high to put the panel back on.

Totally my system, bought it used in 2012 and had to upgrade to new parts when the old ones failed. I shoved a 1070 ti into it, still using the 3rd gen i7. Even have the bluray drive.

I think I died a little when he laughed at the e-sata & Firewire ports on the front of the case... I have those same exact ports on my PC

lol, there's literally nothing wrong with this system. The only bad thing about this PC is the graphics card. Toss in a new graphics card and maybe another 8GB of RAM and it'll still play any modern games on high settings at 1080P or even 1440P. I'm still rocking the 2600K with a GTX 1080 I recently bought second hand as an upgrade. Unless CPU's come out that are like 3X's faster than what I have now I'm not upgrading until DDR5. I'll skip DDR4 altogether.

Some of us use our BluRay drives to backup physical media. It's getting to the point where you can't really buy a high end case that HAS an optical drive slot anymore.

lol i still use my Haf X for gaming rig. I love having that side fan for my GPU. I also did some overkill by putting in the GPU sleeve and mounted a fan in their as well.

My last PC is in this case, 2500k cpu, sitting in a box (original box), I'm moving home soon and my plan is to clean out my fav PC I ever had.

What is it with Mikes? My roommate is also a Mike and he NEVER cleans his PC. It got so dirty and clogged he killed it completely. Of course he claims it had a bad main board but when I see a PC that dirty I know what killed it. BTW, playing blu-rays in windows is as simple as purchasing some software.

Hey I've got a Hyper 212 cooling my i5-6600k at 4.5Ghz/1.3V and it's doing an excellent job

You wouldn't believe it. Just picked up a rig in a near identical 2010 HAFF case, rocking twin water-cooled GTX 460's (yeah that's a throwback), intel i7 920, 32gb DDR3 RAM, a couple of HDDs and a 256gb SSD. And... Drumroll... A TV card 🤣.

I would never treat my pc like this! I treat it much worse... Also, the HAF-X is the best case ever made and I won’t upgrade it in the next 10 years.

Do almost nothing to the machine other than clean its insides and reapplying thermal paste. Use the hard drive bays the case actually provides and turn the machine into a server. Anything else is pointless and a waste of time.

Just throw an RTX 3070 at it and call it done. MS Office isn't going to work and better with a new CPU and supporting hardware.

kinda sounds and looks like my system. I Built it originally around 2012 (including, what was then, a super expensive 120 gig OCZ vertex 2 SSD) and have only upgraded the gpu since then (a 980ti as a replacement for 2 HD7970s) and an additional 500gig ssd for games. Also had to replace the motherboard about 5 years ago because the original just died one day for reasons I will never understand... Stuffed it all in the cavernous coolermaster cosmos 2 because i was totally going to put a custom waterloop in there which i totally never did. It has held up pretty well though, admittedly mostly because I'm still playing on a 60hz 1080p monitor and not really playing latest gen games but still. Even more recent games like horizon zero dawn and death stranding can be played maxed out at a not completely unplayable 40-50 fps (estimated). It's finally starting to really show its age tho, I had to free up space on my ssd for horizon because the loading times (and stuttering whenever new areas were loading in) were atrocious. Probably going to upgrade once zen3 and the new 3000 series from nvidia hit shelves, until then this will have to do :)

modern atom would do much better in HTPC than Sandy though...

You mention an AIO "explosion" and it sounds like everyone stopped using the towers they were used to. I could hardly imagine that happening really. All in ones (AIOs) are not the best choice for everyone. Aren't they more similar to a laptop than a desktop? Then when I think of all in one I think of some Apple computers and not in any sort of good way at all. Then one other thing I tend to think of when I hear all in one is printers. You guessed it, I don't like those either. I hate inkjets and threw mine away for a Brother HL-2140 which has been 99.9999% trouble free (the rest of that being one, JUST ONE paper jam in 15 years). Sure it is only black and white but inkjets are horrible printers!!

That sill would be a good case. I have a Cooler Master case but a different one. I have used it for maybe 10 years. No problems at all.
