Anyone who thinks Nvidia is moving to TSMC this gen is delusional. The time tables this requires and the DRASTIC differences in the performance of the nodes makes this ridiculous. What we will probably get is a rushed RTX 4XXX series that is basically a refresh a year down the line when fab space frees up.

hey if anyone can give me some advice, I really want to build a new gaming pc and im planning to go all out (not 3090 tho) and I have already got my corsair cpu cooler and my pc case. Should I order a different gpu and a temporary ryzen cpu and just upgrade later or buy some parts now and see if I can possibly get my hands on a 3080. I would very much appriciate it if someone could help me with this because anything will beat my gaming laptop that I got earlier this year which I regret because it just keeps on developing problems and slowing down in performence. Edit: I know that the 3080 will have extreme shortage until 2021 but I would hope to get my hands on one before.

7nm vs 8nm isnt what you think.. Its a higher precision of processing and does not mean higher density. Higher density is however a benefit of higher precision. Think of it as writing on a piece of paper with a 0.7mm leaded pencil, then moving over to a 0.5mm lead pencil. Unless you start trying to write smaller, the overall size of the document will stay the same.

Guys you are missing some of the picture, Nvidia went to Samsung because TSMC would not budge on pricing. So they knowingly went to inferior silicon to save money. TSMC is booked until mid 2021 so these chips will not be coming soon. They are booked making AMD CPUs/GPUs xbox and playstation chips along with Apple production. Nvidia went cheap and TSMC is not going bail them out anytime soon. Even if they do come out with a 3080 super/ti on TSMC, what does that do to the 3090? With only a 10% margin above the 3080??? No, what we have here is a debacle of leather boys making. Going be a great year for AMD.

They’ve done merch for quite a while. Secondly DEpost doesn’t pay a living wage, thirdly they don’t make THAT much off merch, it’s just a way to diversify income. I’ll also say that I have a Pauls hardware extended mouse pad and it’s a lot better quality than the Corsair one I had previously at a little more cost, but that goes to supporting people that give me tons of information and entertainment vs a company. Are used to do it in the DEpost show and then they moved into only doing it on the Twitch side, i’m not sure if they’re doing it again on DEpost side. Either way they have rent to pay just like us. I also understand that A lot of merch is of questionable quality and it’s something that is berated on to people, so it gets annoying.

For future reference: it makes no sense to straight up compare TSMC process nodes with Samsung: 7nm is not necessarily better than 8nm Samsung, just because the number is lower. Even within TSMC, there are several processes, like N7FF, N7FF+, N7P. I'm no expert on this myself and I don't have numbers on the used Samsung process, but as an example: Intel 10nm has a higher transistor density than N7FF, but lower than N7FF+.

Every news about Ampere is Nvidia throwing blame on everything and everyone else except them, for doing a shitty early/paper launch just to get on the market before AMD/Consoles. And with throwing FE to Best Buy, sounds like they'll actually blame them when FE wont be available, because Nvidia get less profits from it (expensive cooler). And I highly doubt they didnt expect the demand with all the leaks or hype they created, to me feels all intended, and just BS. You hype such a big "upgrade" in performance, and you start production only 1 month before "release", either they dont intend to sell a lot so prices will stay high and sell every 5 cards they ship once a month or paper launch just to be ahead of AMD. O month later and i still havent seen at least 1 card in stock in my country. L.E. Stop saying the cards are "cheaper", cards are still expensive, they just got better performance over the previous generation. As Paul said, they added 2-300$ at least, 2000 over 1000, for a small % jump just because RTX that was mostly useless. And even now with Ampere, although it's better peformance, cards are still stupid expensive. cheapest 3080 here is priced at 1100$.

Testing on this has been done before not by Kyle but other people more technical outlets. For the most part it depends heavily on the graphics card because the Fidelity and update rate, is enough to keep it gpu bound. they’re constantly improving resolution and refresh rate for headsets. So I wouldn’t worry about the Cpu beyond something with 6 cores, because this is 2020 and games use more then 4 cores and 8 threads. There’s also things like optimization for said hardware, which is usually based on popularity of said hardware for gamers.

Just want to point out (re: Razer Tomahawk cases) that when a computer component is some amount of British pounds, it's usually around the same in US dollars. For example, if a motherboard is around £150, it'll still be around $150 US.
