This is my very first time playing Minecraft, and I'm lucky enough to experience it with glorious real time ray tracing which gives the game an incredible new look. While enabling RTX tanks performance tremendously, Nvidia's DLSS 2.0 saves the day with its AI-assisted rendering technology, creating an experience that performs as good as it looks. Also, I'm bad at Minecraft.

I'm all for raytracing and rtx, but honestly even if there was no performance difference between the two, I would choose to play minecraft without rtx. Sure, the shading itself is more realistic, but all the emission blocks are jarring, and the fog while cool looking makes it harder to see what's up ahead. Plus, one of the main appeals of minecraft is the retro-style graphics. I'm mostly excited for RTX in games that use polygons and not voxels.

I love when people shit on ray tracing in games because it half's the framerate haha. That's cute tell that to my job where I have been ray tracing 1080p and 4K motion graphics for TV sports bumpers and such for like 4 year at this point. On two GTX 1070s and an AMD Threadripper it takes about 20 seconds per 1080p frame to render. Be happy your game is getting more than 20fps because even one is a ground breaking achievement and Minecraft is the game to show it off.
