If you're confused why other reviewers data isn't matching up with ours, read this! An objective of this review was to differentiate it from others to give you additional data, not more of the same. This includes: -Testing with Ryzen CPUs! I figured most reviewers would choose Intel, and a lot of you are on AM4 so I wanted to show how the RTX 3080 performs on your platform. Reviewers who tested with Intel are going to see more FPS than with Ryzen which is nothing new or surprising, with Intel continuing to be the faster chip for gaming. Still, there will be a ton of Ryzen + RTX 30-Series users soon, so this pairing felt relevant and in need of discussion, even if it doesn't net the highest possible performance (the perf is still insane imo). -Testing against the RTX 2080 Ti instead of the RTX 2080. Most reviewers will test the RTX 2080 due to its closer pricing to the 3080 but with all the talk of buyer remorse from RTX 2080 Ti owners, I just had to make this comparison. It actually shows that 2080 Ti owners (on Ryzen at least) still have a solid GPU, although at 4K the RTX 3080 starts to slap it around lol. I would have loved to add the RTX 2080 but I opted to test fewer GPUs in this video so I could focus on making more AIB RTX 3080 content for you guys. Already have two custom RTX 3080 reviews complete that will be dropping soon. Hope that clarifies some things. If not, happy to answer any questions you have!

May I know why lots of peeps saying that 3600 will bottleneck RTX3080 at 1080p and you should be using 1440p instead for more frames, when based on the benchmarks at 1080p its clearly performed better? I might not understand the term bottleneck very well and please enlighten me.

This video proved a 3950x is cpu bottlenecked BAD and can't even push a 2080ti to its max. Forget pushing a 3080 or worse a 3090 to it's max. Poor AMD fellas. Lot of slow cores hype done bit' ya in the arse. Meanwhile HEDT owners with even a 10920x at 4.9-5ghz all core just laughing for days.... Don't buy AMD's hype fellas, that's the moral of the story here.

This video has relieved me tremendously. Got a 3600x and have been anxiously waiting for an opportunity to snag a 3080, but since other techtubers have been suggesting upgrading from the 3600 it made me worried especially because I have had this chip for not even a full year now.

Is this build comparable to your $1700 build? Trying to figure out how much I need to spend to get these types of 1440p fps on a 32" 1440p 165 hz monitor.

Don't get me wrong with the following but, What I don't get is how many reviewers saw a power drawn of around extra 100Watts between same system with an RTX 2080/2080TI vs the RTX 3080 and you only saw few watts (517 vs 537). And those guys also tested with intel and AMD systems, all with about the same result. What could be the reason?

I honestly appreciate you using a 3600. A CPU a ton of folks own and I'm not really shocked it performs the same as the 3950x. I think it's pretty well known that Ryzen single threaded performance doesn't change much up or down the stack and even to this day games don't tend to give a shit about more cores. I'm sure the 3300x would have turned out similar numbers.

Nice to know all I really will need is a new monitor to plug into my system or I can plug up my system to my TV to make getting a 3080 worth it. I'll be doing my upgrading after I get one of the new consoles though since most of my friends are on PlayStation and the Xbox titles my other friends play are older ones that I doubt will get raytracing or just don't need it.

I'd rather see comparisons using hardware that people are likely to own, not pie in the sky $500 CPUs in $500 (or more) Mobos. Say you spend the same amount on CPU, Mobo & Ram as you do GPU: At $700-ish a 3600, B550, 16GB fast 3200/3600 would be a reasonable choice and leave enough left over for a 1440p upgrade or NVMe storage upgrade (maybe even both if on offer). Stepping up to 2080ti/3090 money and it's expected that the rest of the system is built to match: 10900K and high end Z490, etc. I'd love to see you expand on this (you may have seen Greg Salazar test it with an FX series CPU - which was just as much fun as it sounds) with a wide variety of popular CPUs: top dogs from yester-year like the 4790K & 6700K, to more recent low and mid range like 9600k, 10400K, 2600X, 3100, 3300X, the real 3600; as well as GPUs of the same ilk, like the 1080ti, 1660, 2060, 2070. It would really give a great insight into where you're actually seeing bottlenecking and diminishing returns, and answer the age-old question of "should I upgrade X ready for Y?" Keep it real, buddy!

Why are you testing the 3080 against the 2080ti? You should be testing it against the 2080, The 3090 is the price equivalent to the 2080ti.

I'm for sure sticking with my Ryzen 5 3600. Overclocked at 4.25Ghz and I'm fine. Sure I have a 1080p 144Hz monitor that might be too low of a resolution for a 3080, but I can literally just turn up the graphics and put up MSAA to x2, or x4. Perfectly fine.

In terms of frames/dollar for 1080p and from an "I already have a 2080 Ti, where do I go from here?" upgrade perspective, the 3080 isn't worth it, especially if you'd need a larger PSU. The 3090 could be worth it though, as long as you understand that CPU-bound games will always see the least gains from GPU upgrades.

well I would say your conclusion is wrong. nvidia launched the 3080 for 700, but it's sold for more like 900-2000 Dollars, while the 2080ti is still 1200-1300 new or fairly cheap used. the frame/dollarin reality looks a lot different then you suggested, at least in my opinion.

Your benchmarks are going straight against what JayZ and Linus achieved. There is something wrong in your benchmarks, there is no way that 1080p would be that little performance gain.

I still have a first gen x370 mobo and a 1600, so I wasn't sure if it would be more cost effective to go with upgrading both the CPU and mobo(3600&b550) or just buying a 3950x when they go on sale. By this video, I'm guessing they both have a marginal gaming difference but the extra RAM speed I'd get from upgrading from first gen will make all the difference
