I read from notebookcheck RTX 3080 TI ".... PCIe 4.0 X16 support, and the RTX 3080 Ti in particular will get 3x DisplayPort 2.0 + 1x HDMI 2.1 video outputs that support up to 10K resolutions".. However, not sure about Navi 21. I am hoping it does have DisplayPort 2.0 and HDMI 2.1 VRR.

The 2080 Ti was only 20% greater than the 1080 Ti... Despite being nearly double the price. No such price disparity between the 980 Ti and the 1080 Ti however... The thing that people forget about the 20xx series RTX cards pricing is that the big jump in cost came from the inclusion of the brand new RT cores and brand new Tensor cores. Those costed Nvidia hundreds of millions to develop with tons of research time. Nvidia has to recoup those costs so usually initial runs of a brand new hardware tech sees a very large price spike as early adopters pay the early adopters tax. It's been the same with nearly every other hardware technology. Those tensors cores alone that power the deep learning AI were probably stupidly expensive and some Nvidia exec years ago said that the company had to leverage those cores somewhere on the consumer side to make the costs in R&D worth it. Nvidia is most like going with the current RTX 20xx series price model for the new line. What this would mean though is that if it's true that the 3080 is 20% faster than the 2080ti, that would mean then that you could pick up a 3070 with 2080ti performance at nearly half the price and still with more tensor and RT cores. What AMD is probably going to have issues with is real time ray tracing. DX12 has the instruction set to do it with regular compute units, but Nvidia's dedicated RT cores are vastly much more efficient at doing it and offload much of that massive workload off of the regular compute units to then focus on other things. I suspect AMD's Big Navi's performance for RT is going to be relatively terrible and the performance hit on it is going to be much more massive compared to Nvidia's setup which has the dedicated cores to do it. With DX12, you can current get the GTX cards to do RT as well as hack AMD cards to also do RT and the performance drops from the non-specialized compute units is massive. I have a feeling that AMD is going to go with the brute force method of trying to get it done where they may be aiming for 60 fps @ 1080p with RT on which is why we're seeing the suggested leaks of the massive amount of power it's capable of.

I would so love to see AMD pull off the double win and be better than both Intel and NVIDIA in their own core markets (ie Intel for CPUs, NVIDIA for GPUs), even if for a short time. Since the 4000-series Ryzen chips are to go to "system integrators" and the like, are they going to be buyable in systems from companies like Cyberpower and Maingear? For Rob Brown (@Rib1356)'s build - the guy with the 200mm fan up top, about 1h7m into the video - what about zip-tying the power cables to the pass-through areas on the case instead of to the drive bays? I think that might also make it cleaner.

At launch of the 2080ti (the GPU bitcoin bubble had just burst and EVGA 1080Ti SC2s were on sale fore $629 at Newegg) with DLSS not yet working the performance gain of the 2080 vs the 1080 ti was basically non existent (yet the 2080 was selling for over $800) the 2080ti which did show a 10-30% performance bump depending on title over the 1080ti sold was promised for $999 yet was hard to find for under $1280. So with RTX not available really and frame rates with it enabled crap, I picked upo a pair of 1080Tis for my 2 systems, now almost 2 years later with DLSS a 2080 is finally got a performance bump over the 1080ti but only in limited titles, RTX is growing, but not yet fully adopted. I will likely wait till after the 1 year price drop as Nvidia seems to have moved to a two year cycle. (Launch at a stupid high price to clear out old stock, after old stock is clear at the 1 year mark drop prices by 5-15% while also releasing a 2.0 version of the same cards e.g. supers, at the same or slightly lower price and the new adopter tax is gone.) My 1080ti will still play every game I have on my 1440p monitor on high settings at over 80 fps so I can wait another year.

Seeing the honorable mention having such old hardware gives me hope that my pc will eventually make it

The 1080 Ti was nearly 70% faster than the 980 Ti. And it only cost $50 more. The RTX 2080 Ti is 35% faster, but $400 more. If the RTX3080 is "boasting" 20% faster, my guess it will come at at an equally disproportionate pricepoint. I will happily to continue to buy Nvidia (as I have for the past 20+ years), if they don't take advantage of the customer. To be clear, I do believe Nvidia to be the better card, but I think lately, the hardware doesn't warrant the cost. In the meantime - I will stick with my GTX 1080 ti.

your numbers are confusing... you say the 3080 might be “20% better” then say the RDNA2 might be “225% better”. I believe you mean 120% when referring to the 3080 over the 2080 ti but does that mean the RDNA2 is 325% over the RDNA? gotta keep your figures in the same context, us scientists have a pet peeve about these matters when in the same conversation, figures are mix-matched and assumed to mean the same thing.
