Your bit at the end about overclocking, I see where you're coming from but I sort of disagree. It is nice that AMD allows overclocking on lower end boards and chipsets, but at the same time, taking a super expensive and power hungry processor and chucking it on a low end board and overclocking it makes zero sense. Lower end motherboards tend to have crappy overclocking stability due to lower end hardware on the board itself.

"World's fastest gaming processor" - Depends on your cooling, I guess. On traditional air cooling, let's say the Noctua NH-D15, you probably achieve a better overclock and higher scores and fps on the 6-core part.

While I agree with the gist of it, I don't personally care about the cooler. I would rather have $20 off than get the throw away. Hell, I'd rather get $5 off than the tosser. You can get a cheapo $20 Coolermaster that annihilates all stock fans from either camp. You wanna impress me intel? Throw that Coolermaster in the box. Even at $10-$20 more. That would make the jokes stop instantly. At least their mount pattern never changes so I already have a couple coolers. When it comes to the motherboard this used to be a HUGE con against intel on my last 3 I7s. Having to pay an extra $100 was insulting if you wanted to play with overclocking and get that hidden performance, and I always paid it cause I'm into that crap. Today? Not so much. Both camps have taken to overclocking the shit out of the chips from the factory and binning them as such. Both camps need lots of power and cooling to achieve anything that still isn't noticeable in day to day operations. Jumping from 1.9 to 2.0ghz was way more exciting than going from 5.3 to 5.4. You're FAR better off taking that extra cnote and jump up the stack a notch. No OCing will net those kinds of gains, unless you're looking hard at the 10900 already but at 500+250 you should just get a 3950x and a B board. At that cost an extra $100 is chicken feed for 6 more cores and 12 more threads plus that golden binned silicon that makes the R7/R9 look sloppy. IDGAF about pcie4, I have SSDs in raid for my games drive. By the time 4 is needed we'll all be looking to up again anyways. This is why b450 sold so much better than 570 when no one knew AMD was about to bait and switch them. I'm immune to this though cause I need a new mobo regardless what I buy as I'm doing a full new PC so this i7 can be handed down. So I'm in a unique situation. I was planning on an AMD build this spring but Covaids put everything on hold for a lot of people. Now with Zen3 on the somewhat distant horizon and I want to build this summer I'm considering Comet lake. As a pure gaming machine that 9900k disguised as an i7 looks a lot more appealing than a 3800x at the same price. I want at least 8 cores for the next 5 years of shitty console ports and I'm not dropping $500-750 on CPU alone. That's better saved for the next GPU upgrade. No matter who you are you can't say the 9900k was trash. Overpriced sure, but not trash. It was and still _is_ the standard for pushing GPUs with no bottleneck for a gaming sys. Getting it for $380ish is a good deal. No, I can't wait until this fall, I needed this PC a few months ago. Having one of us relegated to hunching over a laptop isn't cutting it. Quarantine just drove it home harder. Building on B550 with a cheap cpu would cost even more in the end than just moving up the sku right now. Maybe if the 3900x suddenly drops another chunk on Comet Lake's launch I'll stick to my plan but I really don't want that leftover silicon after the good stuff got binned towards TR. Well, at least one thing's for sure, no matter what path I take the choices are far better than just 2 years ago and we have AMD to thank for it.

I am just as committed to the AM4 platform as AMD. There are enough cpu offerings with the current 2000, 3000, and upcoming 4000 series parts to keep my two computers in substantial upgrades for a decade. And they can share components across both the B450 Mortar and the X570 TUF Gaming Plus. That does not even include what comes next for the 5 series motherboards. If it were not for AMD, we would not have $85usd 6c\12t cpus or $140usd 8c\16t solutions. This is a great time to be a computer enthusiast.

Basically, when shopping don't look at the Turbo speed for your choice of processor, focus on 'Base' speed and number of cores. Im believe there will be some gains on 1% and 0.1% low (thanks to HT) on the high/mids and low end parts (i7, i5, and i3) and probably between a 3~7% gain AVG FPS in some titles (compared to 9th i7, i5, i3 gen). But on the top tier Core i9 10900K/KF I don't think we are going to see more than a 5% gain, specially considering the Core i9 9900K/KS/KF was already a beast (perhaps Im wrong at this, who knows).

What i don't like about Intel getting one-upped so much is that if AMD gets to past-intel levels of dominance they probably will do the same thing, jack up the prices because of lack of competition and make their line-ups less flexible on past-gen motherboards. We need it to be hard to decide between either company for prices to stay competitive.

That was reasonable and fair coverage. To anyone who knows, we should have expected what Intel has to offer this time around, since it was no secret. Unfortunately Intel wanted gen 4 but motherboard production problems caused them to drop it for 10th gen. Some of the added socket pins are for power delivery and power grounds. The rest were for PCI gen 4 which didn't get utilized. The larger die size was also for better cooling. Hopefully LGA 1200 will be compatible with gen 11. Some say it will but nothing concrete on that yet.
Big flop imo, let this be a lesson to Intel. They're really going to have to step up their platform. I think alot of prebuilts will use the 10th gen intel platform, I just don't see enthusiasts making the switch for now.

isee what caused intel to change the socket is the new flagship 10 core the old lga 1151 cant give the recommended power to this new cpu what intel do is changing the socket every time they add more cores not like amd they but a socket more than they want to add more cores in the future without having any problems thats help amd to put 16 cores in the same socket and dont forget anew node every gen thats make the cpus more efficiency in power every time intel still on the 14nm they will still change the socket every gen when 10nm come out you will see the socket wil still support more generations because the cpus have come more efficient..... if the new 10th gen have lga 1700 from now you will see this socket supported until the 13th gen 7nm
ZaikoEAG11 Vor 8 Monate
your excitement for this new gen is so contagious lol... Intel must take a step back an try something new. They are reaching the limit with 14nm and they are still planing to stick with it for 2/3 years (desktop)... maybe some big price drops while launching (on purpose) weaker processors in a way that gives them time to come up with something... About the gains required to jump platforms, we have to wait for the the ryzen 4000 to be completely sure. This catch up game feels like Intel is doing something by force... actually, brute-force. And B: The actual difference is no where close to be concerned about or paying the huge premium for! AMD offer so much more for your money that's a given, And that's the real reason why they are bashing Intel. Yes it looks like pricing has now improved with 10th gen and with few extra offerings... But they surely ain't biting back with this! AMD still has a clear win for what you get + value.

I could not give the tiniest of a shit about having a new socket. Upgrading from a 9th gen processor to a 10th gen processor is an incredible waste of money. People do not need to upgrade their CPUs every 12 months. Just because AMD will let you plug a 3950x into an A320 board doesn't mean it's a remotely good idea or that you'll have a good time if you do. If you're concerned about the price of having to buy a whole new motherboard because you're on a last-gen platform, you should be saving money by not upgrading in the first place. Your current system is FINE. I also don't care about PCIe gen 4. Until it has any use besides a bump in SSD speed that I'm never going to notice, it's a waste of money all around. Wake me up when GPUs get close to the limitations of the PCIe gen 3 bus and then we'll talk. Legitimately, 2.5 gig ethernet and faster wifi are a bigger deal than this. I super mega don't give a shit about stock coolers. Any stock cooler they give me is going to go straight in the garbage anyway, since it's going to underperform compared to an ancient $20 cooler like a hyper 212, much less any cooler anyone has any business actually buying.

Intel needs to switch to HBM memory architecture because DDR4/5 whatever reached their capacity, the higher the Clock the more CAS delay and therefore RESULTING performance is the same. For example DDR4 3200 CL14 is THE SAME chip as RRD4 3600 CL16 therefore no performance increase. But HBM/HBM2/HBM3 memory is now becoming affordable and it's time to SWITCH TO HBM!!!

I don't see it as a right or wrong but eventually AMD and Intel are going to have to abandon the current designs they are using for CPUs and sockets. It would be a leap to try but wouldn't it be a significant tech jump if you could plug in CPUs like RAM where you could have 2 or 3 driving a system where each CPU handles a different section of the board just like we see with the current dual CPU systems but at a micrfo ATX size. How about having a socket that can handle two or four CPUs but have the CPUs at half the size of the current units we see on the market but with the same performance we see now; it would definitely take hyper threading to a new level.

I think the platform change is going to be the biggest killer for the intel generation. I get it, we saw that leak from that live stream that they will support next gen intel chips AND PCIe 4.0..but then what, intel will do what they've always done and bring out a stupid new socket for 12th gen and continue that vampiric practice going. If they wanted to actually have a competitive chance they would have kept Z390 and allowed people to drop these new chips in to their old boards for a nice core upgrade and some SMT/Hyperthreading if they didn't already have it. But, nope..they just expect people to hand over money with whatever they do, because they made a small change at their top end and just have that stupid dumb fuckery totally detached from reality executive thinking that 'shit rolls downhill' and the rest will sort itself out. While this does make some sense for a tiny percentage of people "techtubers, popular streamers and people with more money than sense" what could have been an opportunity to make a 9900K somewhat affordable in the 10700K has just made it another DoA 9700K.. I am not surprised with all of this intel nonsense, especially watching AdoredTV's insider videos from employees over there. It's a shit show and nobody has a single fucking clue what to do and what people want/need. Which ironically has made the i5's and i3's of this "new" generation the most interesting. all i3's being 4c/8t is pretty awesome for new adopters, finally that sku is somewhat relevant. Now a K sku i3 is basically an older flagship cpu. I would be super interested in seeing that comparison, i3- 10whateverK vs i7-7700K.. It has made me get my shit in to gear and quickly sell my older i7's since they are basically the bottom of the barrel now.

@6:17 - all Intel CPU are overprice !!! DID YOU NOT KNOW THIS? it will take 2_to_4-years for the price to come down.

fbifido fbifido Have you priced the 10th gen that isn't for sale yet? It's obvious that you are AMD brainwashed.

@5:50 - why no one in all these Intel 10th Gen videos ask "Why the BASE Clock is up-to ??" my Core i7 6600U 2C/4T CPU Base clock is 3.2GHz even if its not doing anything, never look at it when it boost. mainly use it to watch DEpost, do gmail, etc ... 1% CPU = 3.20GHz up to 50% CPU = 3.39GHz

fbifido fbifido First of all, if you look at AMDs specs you will find the same "up to" in their fine print. There are too many variables such as operating system, installed memory etc to ensure an exact number.

One thing here tho... Were still comparing 10th gen (or as i like to call it, 6th gen ++++) to Ryzen 3000, intels answer to Ryzen 3000 is one year to late. If AMD have gotten down to 5nm with ryzen 4000 and gotten an even better single core score/IPC improvement, intel got no chance to keep up... Its kinda funny seeing how much intel has failed themselves when looking at their 2012 roadmap, they were planning to release 7nm in 2015-2016, and that never happened. So i HIGHLY doubt intel is gonna be able to make 10nm work for 2021 or have 7nm ready for 11th gen. If they have 7nm CPUs for 2021 theyre guaranteed gonna be unfinished and rushed.

if i had to pick 3900X or 10900K id pick the 3900X whats the difference amd used 105watt while intel probably 125watt amd has 12 core 24 theads intel 10 core and 20 threads amd uses AM4 while intel probably new socket entirely the price difference is very small additional cores and threads better for incase you want to have a gaming and workstation hybrid amd has 0.1ghz base clock over the 10900K but has 0.6 higher boost clock that probably gonna be a main reason why your cpu overheats and the reason it consumes more power i use intel myself cause gaming laptop and i see that intel is not special the majority of fps dependent more on the GPU some apps use GPU to boost its processing or performance so intel is basically apple of CPUs and is behind for sure both in competitive market and technology base intel wont disappear any time soon so if they dont want to go extinct in probably next 10-20 years they should focus delivering better performance without compromising efficiency and they failed at it lets be honest

intel introduces turbo boost 3.0 as basically a 2 core " bump" aka cocaine dispenser for your 2 hardest working cores. watch to see if cores steal your microwave for next fix.
